Then came the rappers. MC Master Jay was one of the first street credible rappers to hit the scene in 1979! For 5 years he had peeps amazed up and down the East Coast! Then in 1985 he became DJ Grandmaster Jay and emerged as the creator of the first real mix tape! Again Hip Hop was amazed! Jay was powerful on the turntables and the mic! Thus the term DJMC was bestowed upon him. As record labels tried to sign him they realized that GMJ was no idiot and far ahead of his time! Since then he has impacted Hip Hop in so many ways it would take years to tell it all. Just know this: There is not a rapper alive today or a deejay doing his thing that does not display some part of what Grandmaster Jay introduced to the world. He sounds like nobody else. Everybody sounds like a part of him! You have entered the world of one of the true pioneers of Hip Hop. The official world of the Original (meaning the first and true) Grandmaster Jay DJMC! Don't get it twisted because while there are many deejays who attempt to rhyme and even fewer emcees that can blaze the turntables, GMJ is a legend because he does both and was the first to do it since the explosion of Hip Hop to the nation! Grand Master Jay has been copied, bitten off of and straight out robbed by some of the biggest pioneers in Hip Hop. New generations need to know this story and now the truth be told! Since 1979 Grand Master Jay has amazed many with his combination of crowd control as an emcee and his incredible turntable abilities! Don't believe the hype! Do your own research! The Original Grandmaster Jay is a Veteran of Hip-Hop who has performed as a dj/mc worldwide and toured, performed, produced and co-written with many in the industry. From Sylvia Robinson and the era of the Sugar Hill Label to Russell Simmons creating Def Jam to Steve Rifkin and the Loud Records movement, GMJ has been a part of them all! He has toured worldwide with the likes of DJ Kool, Funkmaster Flex, R&B songstress Yvette Michele, WuTang, Def Squad, Onyx,and many others. He hosted The Original Fresh Fest Tour (1985), The Russell Simmons Def College Tour (1995), toured with DJ Kool (1996), with Funkmaster Flex's Big Dawg Pitbulls and was tour dj for R&B singer Yvette Michele (1997/1998). He won the KISS Mastermix Championship two years in a row (1984/85) and introduced the world to the first true mixtape. Any true student of Hip Hop knows the saga of The KISS 96 Master mix Tournaments of the early 80s and anybody who heard the Championship Master mix knows it was the first real mix tape! With
27 years in the Hip Hop Culture and still going strong, he's still
